Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda)

Sodium Hydroxide, also known as Caustic Soda, is a highly alkaline ingredient commonly used in cosmetic and soap-making applications to adjust pH and enable the saponification process in soap production. It is an essential ingredient in cold process and hot process soap making, where it reacts with oils and fats to create soap.

Uses

Warnings

• For external use in finished formulations only.
• Corrosive substance — can cause severe burns and eye damage.
• Always add sodium hydroxide to water, never water to sodium hydroxide.
• Wear appropriate protective equipment including gloves and eye protection when handling.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
